Denver Section Quality Professional Scholarship Application

The Denver Section of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) makes available scholarships to offset tuition for courses that will benefit its quality professional members. Individual scholarships may be granted for up to $500, to offset tuition where the purpose for the course is preparation for an ASQ certification examination or other professional advancement in the area of quality.

To apply for a scholarship, complete and submit the scholarship application to the Education Chair or other member of the Section Leadership Committee. The application requires a written statement of approximately 250 words addressing the need for the scholarship and the value of potential benefits.

Applicant must be a current member of ASQ section 1300 to be eligible. One Scholarship per member per fiscal year (July 1 st through June 30 th ) will be awarded, providing all other requirements are met and the scholarship budget contains sufficient funds to fulfill the request.

The Section Leadership Committee will review and approve/disapprove the application at the next scheduled meeting, which is normally held the first Wednesday of the month.

Contribute Your Quality-Related Curricular Materials to the
ASQ Educational Community

One of ASQ’s strategic aims is to “empower people to improve their impact in the workplace through training and certification.” In support of this aim, the Education Division invites you and your members to participate in an exciting new initiative to provide educational resources to teachers, students, trainers, and consultants.

The plan is to develop an educational resource page on the ASQ web site that contains materials relating to teaching the profession of quality. We envision the contents to include: syllabi prepared by course instructors, lessons plans, slides, case studies, class exercises, point papers, student projects, and any other material related to teaching and learning the profession. The site can accommodate K-12, higher education, and workplace development educational resources.

Materials submitted for placement on the web site will be reviewed by subject matter experts to ensure we are offering a quality product to our customers. As a result, the reviewer may modify, annotate, or delete portions of the material with a note indicating that the original document was modified. In addition, once placed on the site, the materials will become public domain documents provided free of charge to any potential customer.

ASQ BOULDER COURSE OFFERINGS

Our neighbors to the north offer refresher training for many ASQ certification exams. Instructors are experienced professionals in their field and have an excellent student pass rate. In fact, if you do not pass the examination for which you took training, you will be allowed to take the class over at no charge as many times as it takes for you to pass the exam. Courses are based on ASQ-approved materials. The cost is reasonable and the schedule designed to accommodate working professionals. Congratulations to our newest CQM!! New within the past year at CSUDH, are the non-credit refresher courses that are designed to aid the Quality Practitioner pass the ASQ professional certification examinations. One of our own members recently completed the Certified Quality Manager Preparation Capstone. He then sat for the CQM exam in October. He has this to say about the course:

"Results? I felt … good about the test - I'd be surprised if I didn't pass. Of those of us that tested, all of us are confident that we passed. I certainly feel that if I had simply read the manual and tested without the prep class, I would have failed the multiple choice because I hadn't done multiple choice testing like the CQM before."

CSUDH offers a wide variety of options for the quality professional in addition to the capstone courses - everything from a Masters of Science in Quality Assurance to individual courses in Statistical Quality Control and Sampling, Human Factors in Quality Assurance, Software Reliability and much, much more.
